Dr. Susan Kavaler-Adler, PhD., ABPP, D.Litt, NCPsyA, clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, the Founder and Executive Director of the Object Relations Institute (ORI).

In this paper, Dr. Kavaler-Adler defines and differentiates grandiose and closet narcissists. She draws upon object relations development as well as a discussion of Jungian perspectives to explore the origins and psychodynamics of the closet narcissist.  Dr. Kavaler-Adler will provide examples of such personalities drawn from film, literature, and clinical practice. When discussing her analytic work, Dr. Kavaler-Adler will illustrate how treatment can aid in transformation.
